Dance Together


DANCE TOGETHER: Ages 1- 3 with caretaker (crawlers and walkers welcome)

Time: 5:15-6:00 p.m.

Day: Wednesdays, July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1 (4-week session)

Location: Center for Performing Arts, Sunroom

Family Dance

Day: Fridays July 6, 13, 20, 27 (4-week session)

Creative Movement One


Ages: 3-5 (Pre-K)

Time: 4:30-5:15 p.m. 

Day: Mondays, July 9, 16, 28, 30 (4-week session)

Location: Center for Performing Arts, Sunroom

Exploration, improvisation, and expression through movement. Children develop large and fine motor skills, as well as coordination, rhythm, teamwork, and listening skills. More Information

Creative Movement Two


Ages: 5-7 (Grades K-1)

Time: 5:15-6:00 p.m.

Day: Mondays, July 9, 16, 28, 30 (4-week session)

Location: Center for Performing Arts, Sunroom 

Exploration of dance language through improvisation and creative movement games. Students are exposed to class structure, complex routines, and acquire an understanding of the dance concepts Space, Time, Body, Effort, Movement, and Form. More Information

All Abilities Creative Dance


Grades: 1-4 

Time: 1-2:30 p.m.

Day: June 18 - 22 (consecutive 5 day camp)

Location: Howe Elementary School, 3733 43rd Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55406

Create! Dance and Art Camp


Ages: 7-11

Time: 9:30-12:00 p.m.

Day: Monday- Thursday, July 9th- 12th (consecutive 4 day camp)

Location: Center for Performing Arts, Sunroom

Experience the joy and fun of modern dance, while practicing creativity and dance making inspired by visual art activities. The participants in this camp will learn modern dance through technique, improvisation, and choreography. They will discover the beauty of making dances through the appreciation and inspiration of visual art.
Create! Dance and Art Camp

DanceBARN Youth Camp

A week of dancing at the lake!



Ages: Entering grades 6th - 9th 

Dates: June 24 - 29, 2018

Location: Battle Lake, MN

The DanceBARN Camp is a partnership between DanceBARN Collective (Battle Lake) and Minneapolis based dance organization, Young Dance.

A Participant Can Expect: 

  • A variety of dance classes with amazing teachers!

  • Performance opportunities

Invitation To Belonging

Week-long, Community-based Summer Program

Ages: Teen to Young Adult

Time: 10:00-3:00 p.m.

Day: Monday - Friday, July 16-20

Location: Center for Performing Arts, Sunroom

Teens and Young Adults with and without disabilities will investigate the role of the arts in building and sustaining inclusive communities. Each day will begin with a physical warm-up to enliven each individual’s movement vocabulary and build an understanding of the groups’ movement capacity.  In subsequent workshops each day, participants will respond to questions posed about community through movement, drawing, writing and sound; and digest their responses in dialogue, collaborative creating, sharing their work and responding to others. The week will culminate in an informal performance.
 
Each Day
10:00-11:15 – Warm-Up Class
11:15-12:30 – Workshop #1 – Arts Exploration: participants will be introduced to different creative arts practices: theater, music, writing, visual art
12:30-1:30 – Lunch (Lunch will not be included. Please bring a lunch)
1:30-3:00 – Workshop #2 – Collaboratively Creating: will feature in opportunity to work with others in the group to create together in Dance, Visual Art, Music, Writing, Theater
